With the ending of one year, and the start of another, it’s natural to acknowledge the time that is flying. This is the time of the year when you look back at things, realise the shift you’d want to make going forward — and this is where the idea of new year resolutions comes in.
Resolutions, promises we make to ourselves, in the hope of a better year ahead, promises that sometimes change our lives, and sometimes are forgotten in less than a week, only to be made again the next year. So, like everyone around, our editors are also taking some serious fashion resolutions. Read on.

In 2021, I really want to embrace contemporary clothing a little more than I do right now. Honestly, my love for comfortable ethnicwear is often the reason I skip trying the latest westernwear trends, or even wearing the pieces I already own. I’d like to change that this year.

I’m going to consciously avoid purchasing fast fashion this year. I don’t mind spending on products that may cost a little more in exchange for stronger longevity. I want to really spend time researching about the material, print and what the brand really stands for as opposed to panic buying or just aimlessly picking up a good looking tee off the shelf.

This year I really want to scale down on my purchases and buy pieces that I can style in at least five different ways. I also want to adopt a more sustainable approach to fashion and invest in pieces that are made with natural fabrics, one-of-a-kind and will last me through years.

2020 was dull for me. I stayed in pyjamas and monochromes all year. I’m going to experiment a lot more with colors this year, especially with Pantone setting two amazing shades to look forward to. I’m thinking bright yellows with pastel pinks and greys. For once, I’d be mindful about choosing colors that match the season instead of my forever lazy mood.

This year is all about co-ord sets for me — scoring high on comfort; they’re equal parts, chic and versatile
( giving it an A+ ). Whether there’s a brunch on my agenda or a casual hang with the girls, they work effortlessly for any occasion. ICYMI matchy-matchy sets are my obsession for 2021!

This year I wish to invest in tops and bottoms that could be paired with all the loungewear I have purchased during the lockdown, and use it in more ways than one.

This year, I’ve decided to ditch all my jeans for high-waisted pants. They’re incredibly comfy and cinch my waist beautifully. I usually pair them with crop tops and bodysuits. I now have pants for every mood and I still can’t wait to buy so many more!

Multipurpose clothing never goes out of style, and this year, if I plan to shop, I only want to pick up items of clothing that I can style in different ways. I specifically LOVE the idea of using a bodycon dress as a fitted, tucked in top with my denims!
