Back in the day, when the idea of Valentine’s Day has just trickled down to this side of the world from the West, it meant celebrating your love interest and partners. However, over time, the concept of Valentine’s Day has evolved from being one mushy, romantic event to a week dedicated to celebrating all forms of love. It could be your siblings, your pets or even your boss —whoever makes you feel loved, deserves to be cherished, is what Valentine’s Day is really about. So, this year, we have our ‘single editors’ telling us about their V-day plans, and of course, the pieces they’re doing it in! Scroll down for more.

Valentine’s plans? I’m cooking an elaborate dinner. I’ve ordered my favorite Argentinian wine. I’m going to dress up in this sassy Blue Halter Lace Dress from GAP, put on my nicest perfume and a flattering lip color, light some scented candles and binge on science fiction thrillers. This year, Valentine’s Day is going to be exactly like my birthday – a day all about ME. Can’t wait to celebrate my love for myself.

I always thought V-day has been a sort of cliche and puts undue pressure on everyone. Not me though, since I am single this year and looking forward to a relaxing (& lazy) brunch with my girls. However, instead of wearing red, I have picked up this pretty, cut-out Yellow Patterned Sunday Dress from Poppi, which I am going to pair with nude lips and stackable rings. The perfect dress for a perfect day!

This year, Valentine’s Day is all about me and the girls, just going out and getting a relaxing bite to eat – we’re going to be eating A LOT of good food! In such cases, I prefer to be totally comfortable, and I’d totally don this KAZO Black Printed Dress that allows me to look super snazzy for dinner, and have that extra plate of appetisers.

First of all, I must admit that I actually don’t have plans for valentine’s day. I’m planning to stay in and dive into a Netflix marathon with my love, Simba (my eight year old beagle). So this year, I’m going to jump into my little black dress, put on some makeup, order some dirty chinese and indulge in some me-time and my little furry animal. Yes, I’m getting all dressed up at home (c’mon, don’t we all?) and lounge on the sofa like a couch potato. Sorted.

I don’t know if it’s still a widely used phrase, but I am one hopeless romantic. I believe in destiny, matches made in heaven, the stars, the moon and everything in between. I might be single this Valentine’s Day, but that isn’t going to stop me from celebrating it — reading Pablo Neruda, watching rom-coms and eating an entire cheesecake all by myself. I’ll be doing everything I enjoy, while wearing this dainty moon-star pendant to remind myself that love can be given only when you have enough for yourself.
