There are several things me and my mother disagree on but our taste in Indian wear is not one of them. For one, our obsession with chikankari borders on unhealthy. Our collection of saris is a joint account. What’s hilarious despite being complete opposites of each in terms of personality, we end up wearing the same colours on most occasions. So on my list of picks for Mother’s Day gifting are outfits I’d buy for myself. If there’s one thing she’d trust blindly, it would be my taste in clothing.

My mom is a clinical psychologist and has been talking to her clients online since last year. She loves wearing easy silhouettes that work as casual home clothes, but can also be worn in front of the camera as well. She loves earthy colours, Indian prints and barely wears any jewellery.

My mom’s style is more in the artistic, bohemian space. She loves Ikat & tropical prints, and occasionally likes to slip into crisp white linen shirts for her client meetings.

My mom aspires to have a large saree collection, and although she has a few stunning, sparkly numbers for weddings, she doesn’t really have something she can wear on a day-to-day basis. She LOVES silk sarees, and this would be the perfect time to give her one!

My mum can be quite tough to shop for; therefore, I really don’t experiment much with her gifts and stick to certain things that I know she has a soft spot for. This year I have picked a roomy tote (since she likes to carry her world in it), a gorgeous kundan necklace (that can be styled with everything) and a pastel kurta set in her favourite hue.

Ever since the pandemic, my mother has become more regular with her workouts. She understands the need to stay fit, keep her endorphin-levels in check; and loves functional activewear, especially because it motivates her on dull days!
