An OG instagram hit, the art of colour blocking has been an internet sensation since the audio visual medium has taken the internet by storm. You can easily spot colour blocking online or IRL if you see someone flaunting clashing bold hues like a vibrant orange placed next to a vibrant pink, or a parrot green paired with another beaming shade of pink.
When it comes to teaching its origins, colour blocking has its roots from the works of designers like Raf Simmons and Jil Sanders on the runway back in Spring 2008. This trend had its major moment in 2011 when designers including the likes of Prabal Gurung to Haider Ackerman introduced sets of head-to-toe clashing hued fits. In 2022, colour blocking has reemerged and all the runway styles are taking cues from decade old fits to assert dominance.
Looking at 2022 trending styles, we have a mix of hues thrown together like acid yellow, tangerine, tomato, cyan, and maroon with darker shades to create a psychedelic cocktail of fits that the social algorithm loves and catches the eye at a first glance.
Presenting, Twenty Dresses’ latest collection Colour Therapy, a modern take on colour-blocking with playful and vibrant hues in dainty yet classic styles perfect for the upcoming months that will have a way of brightening up your day.
