Summer is happiness. Summer is full of amazing memories. Summer is the time spent with friends fooling around, holidaying with family, car rides, road trips, playing in the pool, weekend vibes, beach trips, ice cream runs, roadside slushies, suntans and fun! And the one thing that keeps us all moving through the hot hot summer days is our favourite summer songs. After all, what is summer without a summer playlist?

From running barefoot in the grass to floating in the lake on a sunny afternoon, from sipping homemade teas to endless bowls of ice cream, reminiscing the old summer days, I asked my colleagues at Nykaa Fashion to share their most memorable and meaningful moments spent during the summers and songs that they relish on for that summer feeling.

As a kid, “productivity” was not a concept. So I was totally at ease with just chilling and having all the time in the world to do nothing and anything at all. From lazing around the house guilt-free to watching unlimited TV or curling up with my favourite book or comic, those were the days when I knew how to enjoy my own company.

Summer holidays for me were always a time full of fun, vacationing with family and friends, visiting my grandparents in the countryside, keeping away from phones and the internet and whatnot. Some of my best memories are from my grandparents’ house where I’d spend my time playing with them and getting pampered with stories, treats and the yummiest food. It was truly a time of just pure love and a good good time.

One of my best summer memories has always been the family holidays. Every summer, I and my parents would go to new countries, explore isolated destinations within the country or just visit the nearest hill station. It was the part of summer for which I just couldn’t wait.

A song that I am currently listening to on repeat: Pairs – The Chainsomkers

For me, summer brought with it my favourite iced treats! Whether it was the chilled gola with the colourful syrups or the classic kulfi or the modern ice cream, I just couldn’t have enough. And the best thing you ask? Enjoying these treats anytime during the day as if it was totally normal!

A song that I am currently listening to on repeat: La La Land – Bryce Vine with YG

For the summers, I and my group of childhood friends went by this code, holidays = all-day licence to play. I would spend hours and hours playing outdoor and indoor games. We always had endless games to keep us entertained all day long and then we’d spend the afternoon sipping on the cold lemonade that my mom used to make for all of us. In those days, boredom wasn’t a concept.
