A true connoisseur of fashion, Shruti Sancheti’s designs have always advocated Indian textiles and Indian sensibilities- polished with impeccable tailoring and immaculate detailing. For Spring-Summer 2019, the designer experimented with nostalgic elements of the elegant picnic days in quaint British parks of the yore- textured embroidery, cross stitch details, anglaise lace with delicate scallop edgings.
Translating a prairie love affair onto flowy feminine silhouettes, the collection could have easily been borrowed from a modern princess’s summertime closet. Think pastel hues, wallpaper florals, sun-washed ginghams, luxe cotton blends with organic linens and delicate laces forming a fairytale-sque line of easy separates, dresses, and maxis.
From the looks of it, the beauty memo for the show reciprocated with the pieces- minimal to zero makeup with only a swipe of bronzer under the cheekbones to contour the face and filled-in brows with subtly highlighted inner corners of the eyes. Hair followed suit with a voluminous braided top bun. All in all, her collection transported us back to the good old summer picnics.
