It’s a fact that the pandemic did change the world and alter our way of life; but perhaps the most interesting aspect is how everyone’s approach to fashion and style also changed while in quarantine. I don’t remember the exact moment during the lockdown life, when I started trading my Zoom call appropriate outfits for something more ‘unconventional’ (Re:lounge sets and comfortable pajama sets). To me, it seemed more attuned with the current scenario. Did it hold true for everyone though? Well, I asked 5 NF staffers to share an insight about their go-to lockdown looks and all the pieces that have brought them joy!

While I love basics, I do like to make a splash in them to keep my mood up, even if it is just for my mirror and me. My go to look would be a t-shirt dress with a hair updo. If there is a zoom meeting, I just add a blazer on top of it and I am done. And while gyms are shut, I am making the most of the athleisure trend by wearing my comfy gym wear at home. Keeps me pumped up for work!

This month I consciously decided to put my pyjamas away and pulled out all my work clothes including my cotton pants, linen shirts and a couple of semi formal summer dresses —even if it means just sitting at home and working on my coffee table. And guess what? It was an instant mood lifter. I actually feel more productive and motivated to work without having to feel groggy or tired.

My lockdown routine has mostly been about slipping from one pair of jammies into another—the demarcation between daywear and nightwear has been blurred. I might have lived the past year and a half in cute boxers, snuggle-worthy night suits, but there’s one thing I haven’t given up on—my smart watch. Obsessed as I am, I like to keep track of physical activity and stress levels, so the watch is a constant in all my lockdown looks!

Keeping 2020 and well, most of 2021 in mind now, I’d say that style has pretty much left the building. In fact, I made sure to personally escort it out of the building. However, when I’m not just lying about with my laptop nearby, I do make sure to get some exercise in, and that’s when I prefer to change into some cozy athleisure pieces. Nothing beats the comfort of joggers or a snug pair of leggings, TBH.

Summer crept up this year, gloomier, hotter and more terrifying than 2020. If I look back, I was just starting to get attached to the idea of a lockdown in my pajamas last year around this time. But this year, I’ve decided to stay dressy and prepped even in this damning heat; think cute summer dresses, pastel athleisure, and lots and lots of strappy tops; whether for video chats, evening coffee or finally stepping out to get vaccinated!
