Let’s admit it – finding your favourite fashion in your favoured fit can be quite the challenge especially when your clothing is not custom-made. The reality of the matter is, no matter how hard we try to put the various body shapes and sizes into boxes, it’s just impossible to do so – each of us are gifted with different proportions – some easy to dress and others not. We thought it would be of help if we’d ask the Nykaa Fashion army on how they combat these issues while shopping for their body type. Here’s what we found!
“Finding a pair of jeans that fits my waist and hips perfectly has always been a challenge. I have always struggled with pants being super loose on my waist. After a lot of trial and error, I did discover certain brands that cater to my needs but the in times when I can’t access those brands, this life changing hack comes to my rescue. Loop the belt in the loop closest to the big button on your jeans which helps in cinching the waist and then button up and zip your jeans like normal. This will give your jeans an instant fit!”
“The perfect fit, be in tops or bottoms has always been a struggle for me. While I prefer a loose and comfortable fit when it comes to tops, often I end up liking the ones that are body-hugging or stick to my curves. To combat this, I learned that layering is the trick and began to lean on cover-ups and fun jackets. I’ve even relied on wearing a denim shirt unbuttoned as a layer with my favourite tops. When it comes to bottoms, jeans have always been a big no for me, so instead, I opt for skinny-legged black trousers.”
“Something that I always struggle with when I’m shopping is finding dresses that fit my height. I’m pretty short so it gets difficult to buy dresses that are a good length for me. Therefore, I usually try to shop at stores that have a petite section so that I’m comfortable with the length of the clothes. However, if I’m shopping from the regular section I try to find dresses that are easy to alter from the bottom.”
“I feel like my body type and personality is very feminine, so I become quite conscious when buying clothes that veer even slightly towards masculinity, for example joggers, pant suits, etc. I feel like I cannot rock those kinds of clothes even if I want to. So, to overcome that I look for those type of styles in flowy and flirty materials, like joggers or cargo pants in silk which I then pair with heels to create a feminine ensemble that matches my personality.”
